It’s still fairly quiet around the Stereo Society, as we have a big clean out and shuffle studio and offices around. We turned over a few of what the business calls ‘merchandise’ that we’re ready to clear out. These items are available only by mail order: black short-sleeved T shirt with stitched pocket and full color front and back (large and extra-large only); tote bag brown printed; laminated shot glass. Best to go to the merchandise page and see the photos. All at clearance prices.

We’re still working on the next CD, provisionally titled Dancing At The Stereo Society, although we should come up with something a little less generic eventually. It will include new and improved versions of two remixes presently available for free download, versions of Johnny Reinhard’s Raven and Thorne’s take on Lene Lovich’s song Natural Beauty, first on Sprawl. We have a few more surprises, and a new treatment of a big hit from the eighties. More follows…

Our most recent release, the set of club mixes by Norty Cotto and Thorne of Grandma's Goodbye (the opening song on Thorne's The Contessa's Party), is rising in dance popularity towards a possible Billboard Top 50 club chart entry. We’ll know in a week or two.

It makes for a queasy feeling. The live album recorded at London’s seminal punk club, The Roxy, in early 1977 is 30 years old. What has happened since then? There are several projects in the works, including a forthcoming ten-page article in UK magazine Mojo by noted writer Kris Needs. We’ve expanded our relevant Links section, which complements Thorne’s production commentary and the host of other memorabilia, much of it downloadable in hi-res.

Deep Purple go even further back, yet they are still very much active. Recently, Jon Lord retired, his keyboard position taken by Don Airey. This became another small-world experience for Thorne, who had worked with them as an assistant engineer in the very early seventies.
