Taken in the dressing room at Hammersmith Lyric Theatre, London, during the performance run of our Mata Hari. I wasnt in costume, but was wearing a wig. I experienced a big hairdressing disaster, after I thought I would get a professional perm for the show. Most of my hair was burnt by the chemicals that went wrong, and I didn’t have much left for the theatre. All hair came back, but it took five years to grow back to waist length. Pretty much same length now. Les is leaning from some pipe, the shot was well before you could do this quickly with computers. At this time, I had the first pair of experimentally colored contact lenses in the country, which I commissioned specially for the show, to change character.
