BETTY Rules returned to Washington DC at the end of 2005, for an even longer engagement at Theater J, December 19 to January 29.

Their earlier five-week run in Washington DC ended April 3 2005, with the achievement of selling out every show.

After a six month run in New York, BETTY Rules played Chicago for six weeks at the Lakeshore Theatre, May 6 through June 20, 2004.  Recently, they have released their Original Cast Recording on their own label, which you can purchase at their site or from Amazon

The musical, based on the band's own variably-succesful survival experiences in the radical rock+roll jungle, finally closed its inaugural New York run (more successfully than their story might suggest) on March 30 2003 after 212 performances at the Zipper Theater in New York. Nice area code, thanks.

We had a spy with a camera at the closing off-Broadway show, apparently breaking all sorts of rules.
You may check out the 27 pictures and the stories behind them:

And then we followed up with 24 pictures from Chicago:

Sadly, the
rave reviews after opening night in both the New York Times and the New York Post of Wednesday October 16 are no longer available online, but you can read the third rave, in the New York Daily News: we offer a crinkled scan here.

"They're smart. They're sexy. They're BETTY - the all-girl, all-attitude band that's been harmonizing punk, pop and politics for close to two decades. Now their high-powered music, high-octane personalities and wild tales from the dark side of fame are rocking the roof off New York's Zipper Theatre in the all-new BETTY RULES directed by Michael Greif (of RENT)."
